I guess I’m just a little PO’d today. What the heck?
From Comics Alliance:
While this wouldn’t be this first time a profoundly American comic book icon disassociated himself from his national identity — remember when Captain America became Nomad? — this could be a very significant turning point for Superman if its implications carry over into other storylines. Indeed, simply saying that “truth, justice and the American way [is] not enough anymore” is a pretty startling statement from the one man who has always represented those values the most.
It doesn’t seem that he’s abandoning those values, however, only trying to implement them on a larger scale and divorce himself from the political complexities of nationalism. Superman also says that he believes he has been thinking “too small,” that the world is “too connected” for him to limit himself with a purely national identity. As an alien born on another planet, after all, he “can’t help but see the bigger picture.”
So what do you think – am I being too harsh? Somehow this “global” thing just aggravates me. Next thing you know he’ll be trying to save us from climate change or some other nonsense. Oh…wait…
Just a note that my friend HirabistHunter from YouTube has finally consented to join me in posting on my blog. He now has access to post at will, and I wanted to introduce you to him. As his name implies, he is a Hirabist hunter extraordinaire and has put a lot of time into finding violent hirabists (including the likes of “Jihad Jane” Colleen LaRose) online. Welcome aboard sir! Looking forward to your posts!
First Julian Assange’s lawyer was whining that some information about his client was leaked to the media and that he didn’t want his client suffering a “trial by media.” (Quite rich, for a man who made his millions by leaking secret documents to the world, eh?)
And now this…. When fighting extradition, Assange’s lawyer first tried the tack of saying that what his client did in Sweden would not be considered rape in Britain and then claimed that extraditing Assange to Sweden would be violating his Human Rights, because once in Sweden, he may further be extradited to the United States to face charges for leaking diplomatic secrets which could possibly result in the death penalty.
But the judge – a wise man – would hear none of that according to this story at the DailyMail…
Announcing his decision, District Judge Howard Riddle said extraditing Assange to Sweden would not breach his human rights.
He also disagreed with defence lawyers’ claims that what Assange is accused of doing would not actually amount to rape in this country.
And he dismissed the argument that the whistleblower would not receive a fair trial, despite a certain amount of negative publicity surrounding the case.
So it will probably go to appeal in the next seven days or so. Of course Assange’s lawyer, Mark Stephens, is parlaying this into a charge that Europe needs a unified system of justice. These libs and their lack of respect for the right of a country to make and enforce it’s own laws is astounding!
And ok – on a personal note – who lets a man out of the house dressed like this?
Seriously dude! Somebody get that man a gift certificate to the Image Coach, stat!!
A group of South Dakota lawmakers has introduced a bill that would require almost everyone in their state to buy a gun once they turn 21.
Turns out it’s not a serious attempt. Rather, the lawmakers are trying to make a point about the new health care law — that an individual mandate is unconstitutional, whether it requires everyone to buy health insurance or, in South Dakota’s case, a firearm.
“Each citizen residing in the state of South Dakota who has attained the age of 21 years shall purchase or otherwise acquire a firearm suitable to their temperament, physical capacity and personal preference sufficient to provide for their ordinary self-defense,” the bill states.
For Neda. For all the beautiful people who are fighting for FREEDOM!
Thank you Evan Mark for this powerful video!
Bwaaahahahahaaa! I don’t really believe in Karma, per se. But sometimes that’s the best word for what happens. Delicious!
Julian Assange is angry at the UK Guardian for publishing details of sexual assault allegations against him based on…wait for it…a leaked police report. Stones, glass houses, etc.
Assange is especially peeved, the Times reported, that the Guardian “selectively published” details of that report. Gee, you mean that publishing only sensational excerpts of leaked private information might present an incomplete and misleading narrative to the paper’s readers that could damage the reputations of those involved? You don’t say.
“I do not like the idea that Julian may be forced into a trial in the media,” Hurtig said. “And I feel especially concerned that he will be presented with the evidence in his own language for the first time when reading the newspaper. I do not know who has given these documents to the media, but the purpose can only be one thing – trying to make Julian look bad.”
No worries, mate! He’s got that “looking bad” thing handled all by himself. And, well, you know what they say – what goes around comes around. Welcome to justice, Julian Assange-style.
